In the event a situation arises, whether on campus or in the immediate campus community, that poses a threat to the campus community, the Chief of Campus Police or his designate, will send out a campus crime alert via email and posted flyers identifying the threat or concern.
At Austin College, we strive to keep our campus as safe as possible. However, unpredictable situations may arise that are beyond our control. In the event of an active shooter situation, you must be prepared both mentally and physically to respond safely.
Should an emergency situation arise that poses an immediate threat to the campus community, a campus-wide emergency notification will be made via the AC Alert by telephone, email and/or text, identifying the threat and action to take. Campus staff are capable of making the notification at all hours.
Update your Emergency Contact Information
Campus Emergency Notification Information can be updated through Webhopper. Updates are uploaded to the emergency system twice daily. Emergency alerts can be received by voicemail, email, and/or text. This system is used only for emergency situations.
Emergency Response Guide
The Emergency Response Guide is intended to assist students, faculty, staff, family and friends with important information in the event of an emergency.

What is a Campus Lockdown?
What is a campus emergency lockdown? A campus emergency lockdown is a campus notification to lock all access points into buildings, classrooms, offices, labs, meeting areas, dining areas, athletics areas, theaters, residence halls, etc. All campus members are to immediately lock themselves into the areas they are in and remain there.
How long will a lockdown take? Once a campus lockdown is initiated, the lockdown will be in effect as long as necessary for the situation to be resolved. Once the situation is resolved, a campus notification will be sent via the campus notification system.
How will a campus lockdown warning be shared with the campus community? A campus emergency lockdown warning will be initiated through two outlets: the campus emergency notification system: AC Alert, which sends out emails, phone messages, text messages, and cell phone messages; and the campus emergency outdoor siren.
What type of event would necessitate the campus go to a campus lockdown? Any type of threat or event that threatens the safety of the campus community would be cause for a campus emergency lockdown.
Who has the authority to initiate the campus emergency lockdown? The Senior Staff and the Campus Police Office have the authority to activate the campus emergency lockdown.
